You can change your QA Proof plan at any time from qaproof.io/app/settings/billing. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades wait until the end of your current billing period so you don't lose paid time.
Upgrading
- Open Billing in your account dashboard.
- Find the plan you want and click its tile.
- Paddle's checkout opens — review the prorated amount and confirm.
- Once Paddle confirms the payment, your account updates within a few seconds. Refresh and you'll see the new plan name, new AI-generation limit, and new monitor limit.
Important details:
- Counter resets on upgrade. When you upgrade to a paid plan, your AI generations counter resets to 0 — you start the new billing period fresh with the new cap. Downgrades to Free do NOT reset the counter (see below) because Free is a one-time lifetime trial.
- Prorated charge. Paddle bills the difference between your old and new plan for the remainder of the period.
- Annual ↔ monthly. Switching billing cycles is the same flow — pick the new cycle from the toggle.
Downgrading
- Open Billing.
- Click a lower-tier plan (or click Cancel subscription to drop to Free).
- Confirm. The Billing page now shows a "Downgrade scheduled" notice with the date the change takes effect (your current billing period's end).
You keep all current-plan features until that date. On the scheduled date our subscription scheduler runs and applies the new plan.
If you're downgrading to a lower paid plan (e.g. Business → Pro), your AI generation counter resets to 0 along with the new lower cap. If you're downgrading to Free, the counter is preserved: Free is a one-time lifetime trial of 10 generations, so if you already used part of it earlier (or if you used many generations on the paid plan), that usage carries over. Practical effect: a user who used 50/100 generations on Pro and then downgrades to Free becomes 50/10 and is blocked from running more free tests.
What happens to data on downgrade?
- Monitors above the new limit keep running. Downgrading from Business (10 monitors) to Pro (2) doesn't disable existing monitors. You just can't create new ones until you delete some.
- Test history retention shrinks. If you go from Business (365 days) to Pro (90 days), entries older than 90 days will be auto-purged at the next cleanup. Download PDFs of important results before they age out.
- API key keeps working. No need to regenerate.
Cancelling a scheduled downgrade
If you change your mind before the downgrade fires, click Keep current plan on the "Downgrade scheduled" banner. The change is cancelled and you stay on your current plan.
Why does the WP plugin still show the old plan?
The WP plugin reads your account info live on every Settings page load — there's no cache on our side. If the plan in WP doesn't match Billing on qaproof.io, the most likely reason is that the API key in WP belongs to a different account than the one you upgraded (e.g. a test account you created with a +something@ email). Check the email shown in the WP plugin's account-info card.
